  3. for the eastern-front victory at the Battle
  4. of Tannenberg 1914. After Hindenburg's
  5. appointment as chief of general staff and

  7. he was also politically influential. He took
  8. part in the Nazi rising in Munich 1923, and
  9. sat in the Reichstag (parliament) as a
  10. right-wing Nationalist.
